What are the requirements to become an RBT?

You must complete a 40-hour training course, pass a competency assessment, pass the RBT exam through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB), and meet background check requirements. At SEBS we pay for your exam as well as your training process.

Do I need a degree to become an RBT?

No, a college degree is not required. You must have at least a high school diploma or equivalent and be able to pass a background check.

How long does it take to become an RBT?

Once you’ve completed your 40hr classes, we will being a 4-week training program. This will include completing your competency assessment, on-the-job training with clients, and passing your RBT certification exam.

What does a typical day look like for an RBT?

An RBT works one-on-one with clients, running programs designed by a BCBA. Daily tasks include teaching new skills, managing challenging behaviors, taking data, and communicating with the supervising BCBA and family members.

Where do RBTs typically work?

Our RBTs work in various settings, including clients’ homes, SEBS clinics, and sometimes in the community.
