Meet Our Team

Southeast Behavioral Services (SEBS) was founded in 2017 when Chad and his wife, Kristen, relocated to Knoxville, Tennessee with a clear purpose to increase access to high-quality Applied Behavior Analytic services for families in underserved and rural communities. While many providers were concentrated on the larger cities or driven by rapid expansion models, Chad and Kristen recognized a growing need beyond those markets and a responsibility to put client progress first. SEBS was built from that vision.

SEBS began providing in-home services and later opened their first clinic in Seymour, TN, with a small team of Registered Behavior Technicians and later a telehealth BCBA.

Like many providers, SEBS faced significant challenges during the 2020 pandemic, which resulted in the shift to providing primarily in-home services. During this time, SEBS made a deliberate decision to remain independent and client-focused, prioritizing comprehensive care, staff support, and treatment quality over profit-driven decisions. That same year marked a pivotal moment when Michelle Roe, a BCBA with many years of experience in the education sector and remote ABA services, joined the team as the Director of Operations. Her expertise in administration and passion for developing RBTs and future BCBAs helped strengthen SEBS’s organic growth while preserving its small-company values.

Between 2020 and 2024, SEBS grew steadily and methodically, adding RBTs, expanding BCBA support both in person and via telehealth, and investing heavily in training and mentorship. In 2022, Brooklynn Simmons joined the team as the Director of ABA services. Her 20 years of experience in the ABA field and conviction that all clients deserve the highest quality and professional treatment possible, elevated the standards of SEBS going forward. During those formative years, several team members advanced from an RBT position into BCBA roles, reflecting SEBS’s long-standing commitment to professional development and expanding the practitioner pool. This growth allowed SEBS to expand services across East Tennessee and service hundreds of clients, without sacrificing clinical quality or individualized attention.

In 2024, SEBS opened its Morristown clinic to better support families whose home settings or work schedules created barriers to in-home services. This decision allowed many current clients to increase their treatment hours while maintaining consistent clinical oversight and expanded the ability to service additional families. Several clients have successfully graduated from ABA services, since opening the Morristown clinic. In 2025, SEBS opened a second clinic in Oak Ridge, further expanding access to ABA services for children who might not otherwise receive care. This clinic has also provided a place for new RBTs to enter the field, some of which have begun graduate programs to soon become future BCBAs with SEBS.

Throughout every phase of growth, SEBS has remained faithful to its original mission of delivering premium ABA services through skilled, prepared, and supported providers. Unlike large private equity-backed organizations, SEBS has intentionally chosen a slower, values- driven growth model that prioritizes ethical decision making, staff mentorship, and long-term client outcomes.

Today, SEBS serves families from more than 25 cities across East Tennessee. The team includes 9 BCBAs, 6 graduate students preparing to become BCBAs, and over 30 highly skilled RBTs working collaboratively to serve their clients.

As SEBS continues to grow, they remain proudly BCBA-owned and operated, maintaining a close-knit, supportive culture while expanding their reach. Their commitment is not only to the families they serve, but also to the professionals who make up the team.
